The Big Fig was an exhibition by Johanna Jackson at the Portland Museums of Modern Art in 2012, this beautiful document of the show is with us here in 2014. Johanna, ('Best known as a leading figure of the Mission School, Jackson -- along with her husband Chris Johanson, Barry McGee and Margaret Kilgallen -- helped popularize a boldly graphic style that drew inspiration from comics, graffiti and the urban bohemia vibe of the San Francisco neighborhood for which it's named.') has since shifted her practice to a more craft based approach. Using knitting as a tool to create jumpers and a run, hand made hangers and display systems, muted colours, recognisable forms. A very sculptural approach to an everyday image.

The book is a beautiful representation of the exhibitions, carefully designed. Very, very highly recommended!
